Biography

Dr Venura Samarasinghe is a Consultant Dermatologist and dermatological surgeon at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. His sub-specialty practice is in Mohs micrographic surgery and the surgical management of skin cancer.

He qualified from the University of Manchester in 2002 and completed dermatology specialist training in the North West of England. After joining the GMC Specialist Register for Dermatology in 2012, he undertook a further one-year fellowship in Mohs micrographic and dermatological surgery at St John's Institute of Dermatology, London.

He has lectured nationally and internationally on skin cancer and dermatological surgery — for which he has received awards, published widely on skin cancer. He has been past clinical lead of the Department of Dermatology at St George's Hospital and Dermatology Skin Cancer Lead. He has previously sat on a national joint Dermatology–Plastic Surgery Integrated Fellowship board.

On the editorial board he is the Mohs & Dermatological Surgery Editor, reviewing the site's content on Mohs surgery, the surgical management of keratinocyte cancers and dermatological surgery.
